How We Cover Local Businesses

Most of what you see here is free

We pick businesses, events, and openings to feature because we think our neighbors on 7 Mile Island will genuinely want to know about them — nobody pays for that coverage, and nobody can buy their way onto it. That's true whether it's a free "Want to Be Featured?" submission or something we found ourselves.

We also offer paid collaborations

For businesses who'd rather not wait on the free queue, we offer a paid Spotlight Collaboration — a bigger, guaranteed-date feature: a real interview, requested photos, a dedicated post, and a Story takeover. It's a different, richer deliverable, not the same free post with a price tag on it.

Every paid collaboration is labeled "PAID SPOTLIGHT — In Partnership With" right in the Instagram caption, every time, no exceptions.

What money buys — and what it doesn't

Paying for a Spotlight buys a guaranteed date and a bigger format. It never buys a better opinion, a nicer write-up, or any say over what we choose to cover for free. We reserve the right to decline any Spotlight request — paid or not — that doesn't fit what we're comfortable telling our neighbors.
