The Beach House Brings Seaside Essentials for the Entire Family to Stone Harbor

There are some stores you walk into for one thing and somehow leave 20 minutes later carrying a birthday gift, a puzzle, a squishy, something for an Eagles fan, and a game you did not know your family needed.

As it finishes up its first summer in Stone Harbor, The Beach House has officially become one of those places.

Located at 9720 Third Avenue, Unit 5, The Beach House opened earlier this season with the goal of creating a shop that truly had something for everyone. A few months in, owners Christie Schwinn and her mom, Sandy Cohn, have built exactly that.

It has quickly become one of our favorite stops in town, especially when you need a gift, a rainy-day activity, something to keep the kids busy before dinner, or just want to browse a store where every shelf seems to have something fun on it.

And it is not just for kids.

There are puzzles, vintage games, new games, LEGO sets, NeeDohs, squishies, crafts, beach finds, clothing, gifts, Philly sports gear, Eagles favorites, and plenty of things adults will end up picking out for themselves too.

Need a last-minute birthday gift? Easy.

Rain in the forecast? Head there first.

Looking for something the whole family can do around the table? They have it.

That variety was always part of Christie's plan.

“It’s a great mix that includes a hat for dad, a sweater for mom, toys and clothes for kids, beach items, games, gifts, and grab-and-go finds for a range of ages and price points,” Christie told us before opening. “Whether someone needs a rainy-day activity, a birthday or housewarming gift, or an easy item to pick up while you wait for dinner, the goal is to make shopping simple, useful, and fun.”

The idea behind The Beach House also comes from a family that already knows what shore families need. Christie’s parents have owned Stone Harbor Crib & Beach Rental for more than 20 years, first operating in Avalon before eventually purchasing the Stone Harbor building that stands behind The Beach House.

That experience gave Christie and Sandy a front-row seat to vacation life. Families forget things. Kids need entertainment. Rain happens. Birthday invitations pop up. Grandparents want something fun to bring home. Parents are always looking for a way to get everyone off a screen for a little while.

Christie also brings her own perspective as a mom, registered nurse, and professor. When she began selecting products for the store, she was thinking about quality, safety, age range, and whether something would actually be useful or fun once it left the shelf.

The result is a shop that is easy to browse and hard to leave empty-handed.

You may walk in looking for a kid’s gift and leave with a Phillies puzzle. Or stop for a rainy-day game and find a vintage favorite you forgot you loved. Younger kids can immediately spot the squishies and toys, while older kids, teens, parents, and grandparents have plenty to look through too.

The store has also leaned into screen-free fun, with games, puzzles, hands-on activities, and options families can bring back to the house and enjoy together.

While summer may be winding down, The Beach House is not.

The store plans to remain open daily through the fall, making it an especially good stop for quieter weekends, fall birthdays, rainy afternoons, Eagles season, and the start of holiday shopping.

If you didn’t make it in this summer, add it to your next Stone Harbor walk.

And if you already did, there is a good chance you understand why it has become one of our new favorites.
